In July 2021 the Secretary of Labor, Marty Walsh visited the St. Louis Job Corps Center to tour and speak with students and staff about his thoughts on the importance of this DOL entity and how a reduction in the nation’s labor force creates even more opportunity for participants. Mr. Walsh spent the majority of his time touring our “Trade Row” shops and wrapped up his tour in the Culinary Department, taking time to interact with students safely and personally. He provided students with some of his personal history, describing his path to the Secretary or Labor position. When one of the students asked the Secretary how he explains Job Corps to community and colleagues, he responded, “Job Corps is the opportunity to build the workforce of the future. It creates pathways and opportunities for people to get into good careers.” We could not agree more, Mr. Secretary!!
