Community Relations Council Luncheon

On a stormy day in late January, community partners, employers and staff gathered in Fine Dining to have lunch and celebrate Job Corps’ 2015 student success. The Community Relations Council Luncheon brings local partners, employers, and our island neighbors together to discuss our success, their needs, and our partnerships in the new year. Our long time partners Congresswomen Lee and Pelosi were represented at our event as well as our newest partners MGA Industry, AccentCare, District 16 Union Glaziers, and the Success Center of San Francisco. Job Corps also would like to thank our local neighbors, Fire Station #48, Nation Guard and TIHDI for attending.

Attendees were treated to lunch, an overview of our students’ 2015 success and the firsthand experience of recent CMA graduate Mario Arclangeles. Mario spoke about his time on center, what he learned in class as well as in the dorms, how his instructor, Ms. Chris, helped him get an externship at AIDS Project of the East Bay and how Ms. Donna, Career Transition Readiness instructor, assisted him in verbalizing his want to be hired after his externship. Mario was hired at AIDS Project upon completion of his externship and, with a little extra help from Ms. Chris, trained the next two Treasure Island CMA students that externed at the site.

Special thanks should be given to the Advanced Culinary students and instructors for all their hard work on the event. The presentation of the buffet, the quality of the food and pleasant service topped off the event.
