KY Youth Career Center helps Job Corps in our community

Whitney Young Job Corps Center has a strong working relationship with several community partners in the Kentuckiana area.  A key relationship for helping our students succeed is in the works through co-located services at the Career Center and KentuckianaWorks offices throughout our region.  One of the partners that WYJCC staff look to for ongoing support of providing additional services and resources for students is the Kentucky Youth Career Center.  Recently Job Corps center staff spoke with KYCC career counselors to learn more about incentives our students can earn even while enrolled with Job Corps and when the student starts out when beginning a job after graduating. The opportunities for partnership to support student growth in their chosen career are amazing! We are very glad to work alongside this important youth employment service provider and their parent organization Goodwill. Info about KYCC can be accessed at https: //www.kentuckianaworks.org/kycc

Here is brief info about the terrific work this community partner does alongside our staff to support the mission of Job Corps in helping students reach success on their career paths:

The Kentucky Youth Career Center (KYCC) provides services for out-of-school youth ages 18-24 in six Kentucky counties — Bullitt, Henry, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer and Trimble — in coordination with adult education programs and numerous community partners. The program focuses on three areas:

  • Improving basic skills and earning secondary school credentials
  • Enrolling in advanced training and supporting participants’ completion
  • Finding and keeping employment
