Student Heads to the Army

Full Completer, Thomas Williams, is heading to the Army!

Thomas Williams, age 21, came to Whitney M. Young Job Corps Center on March 10th, 2018 from Tampa, Florida.  While at WMYJCC, Thomas obtained his HSD, driver’s license and certifications in carpentry and cement masonry.  He did a stint of work based learning at Rock Solid Foundations (about 12 weeks) and held leadership positions in his dorm as a dorm leader.

Thomas left WMYJCC on Tuesday, September 3rd as a full completer and headed to Ft. Jackson, South Carolina for basic training in the Army!  His role in the army will be 91 Bravo Truck Mechanic.

Thomas says to current Job Corps students, “Stay in your lane and Job Corps can do wonders!”  He also wants to tell others that are on the fence about joining the program to “Try it, it has good opportunities!  Everything comes with its problems but if you stay determined it will work for you.  As long as you visualize your goals, nothing can stop you.”

Thank you for choosing to serve our Country, Thomas, you make us all very proud!
