Whitney M Young Job Corps welcomes Congressman John Yarmuth at Graduation

It’s August 24th and you can feel the excitement in the air as students line up for the graduation processional to “Pomp and Circumstance”, but this is no traditional graduation. These students have overcome obstacles, beat the odds and completed their task. Each Whitney M Young Jr. Job Corps Student has a personal story of how they accomplished this deserved education and technical trade certification. Scholars earned official recognition in the medical, construction or culinary arts trade.

The Whitney M Young Job Corps students had the privilege of their Congressman John Yarmuth speak with them about “real life” matters and the importance of finishing what they have started by gaining employment and continuing their education. U.S. Representative John Yarmuth states, “Keep up the good work Whitney Young as you continue to change lives for the better, because Job Corps works in Kentucky.” A video was shown during the ceremony to commemorate this special event of the 2nd Annual National Job Corps Commencement Day from Mr. Mark Shriver, son of Sergeant Shriver, who founded the Job Corps program in 1964. The Job Corps program is a living legacy of the American Dream.
