Whitney M. Young Jr. Job Corps recognizes distance learning superstars

Joshua Landfair, from Memphis, TN, enrolled at Whitney M. Young Jr. Job Corps in August 2019. Since then, he has completed the Eminence High School Diploma program and will receive his high school diploma when he completes his Certified Nurse Assistant career technical training program.
Landfair has completed all three sections of his Certified Nurse Assistant curriculum using the center’s distance learning program. Upon returning to center, he will need to complete his skills training and required clinical hours and take the state Certified Nurse Assistant exam.
When asked about his motivation to work diligently during distance learning, Landfair said witnessing the economic hardship locally and throughout the world caused by the COVID-19 pandemic drove him to stay focused and finish his Certified Nurse Assistant program. He realized how the pandemic has significantly impacted those around him and understands the importance of working and having something to work for.
After the completion of his career technical training program, Landfair wants to attend college for Nursing and Journalism. He hopes to continue to help others with his nursing career and pursue journalism during his leisure time.
“Always push yourself no matter what,” Landfair said. “Encourage yourself no matter what.”
