Whitney Young Job Corps Welding grad begins career

Whitney Young Job Corps Welding gradate moves back home to Tampa, Florida as a welder making more money than then he ever thought. Jacob Hammond, 24, completed the welding program in less than one year and knew nothing about welding prior to his extensive training. “Look at me NOW!” said Hammond who volunteered and worked in various positions while attending the WMYJCC program. Hammond said Job Corps demonstrated how to be a professional and accountable employee. Being a hard worker and on time are essential to keeping your position. While at Whitney Young Job Corps Hammond has experience with helping on various projects such as the big iron guard gate at the welcome center, welding shelves, torch cutting, guardrails, brick and cement, (SMAW) Sheet Metal Art Welding, gridding, “Oxyacetyelne” plasma torch cutting – trade burning, power tools and more.
