The Whitney Young Job Corps culinary students volunteered Monday, February 5th, at the Shelbyville Kiwanis Annual Chili Supper! Three culinary arts trade students, Scott Allen, Brandon Brownlee and Richard Eason volunteered by serving chili and soups at the Stratton Community Center, proceeds from the event will benefit the local Shelby County community. The event was packed, over 250 tickets were presold and about 50 tickets were sold at the door. The students provided excellent customer service to approximately 300 people and had the opportunity to meet and take pictures with the Mayor of Shelbyville, Tom Hardesty, and Deputy Sherriff, Gene Witt. Mr. Woody Allen, Whitney Young Job Corps Center Director, was able to take pictures as well. The Kiwanis club was very thankful for the culinary arts volunteers, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the event. The Whitney Young Job Corps is operated under Horizon Youth Services.
