In the early morning on September 27, 2018 around 7AM, 16 WMYJCC construction students were dressed and ready to make a statement as they headed to the Frenchburg Job Corps Center with their instructors to compete in the first KY Job Corps Trade Olympics. The winner of the KY Job Corps Olympics will not only have bragging rights, but also display the winning trophy for one year. In addition the winner will host the next KY Job Corps Trade Olympic event in 2019. The following WMYJCC trades participated: Brick, Cement, Carpentry and Building Construction Technology. Each trade was graded on their quality, performance and the length of time to complete. Carpentry students participated by making a dog house that will be donated in the local community.
Whitney Young Job Corps construction students were thrilled about bringing the winning trophy to campus, and equally enjoyed working as a team for a common goal, realizing the value of supporting each other and being united.
