Wind River Job Corps Launches Creative Community Outreach

“How many Zooms did You do this week?” has become a common question amid CV-19 concerns, and the go-to channel for community meetings. Early on in the pandemic, digital meetings were welcomed. Three months, and multiple layers of community involvement later, local Community Relations Council participants are getting zoomed-out. Even so, we had a need to keep them up to date on Wind River center events, improvements, and updates.

The remedy for the time being is a new digital newsletter, ShoutOut, sent to both community and industry councils, as well as the legislative delegation, media and other friends. The first issue focused on Wind River’s Top 3 standing in STAR along with thanks to specific community members and staff for their role in that achievement. The subsequent issue focused on distance learning, partnership development and contractor changes at WRJC.

“The newsletter is followed up with phone calls, providing an avenue of community feedback,” says Business and Community Liaison Cathy Cline. “We had previously intended to launch a monthly e-news tool, but CV-19 created an opportunity to jump on this sooner than later. It will very likely continue post-CV-19.”
